Background story
In 2019, Bloomable began when my mom, Julia, started to sell the beloved Chaga Mushroom. Julia hand-sourced these amazing mushrooms from North Bay and milled them into powder herself. At the time, she wasn't thinking about the extraction method or whether the Beta-Glucans were fully optimized, as she had been using the mushrooms how she knew how to from her childhood in Sibera. Similarly, while product expanding, the focus naturally fell on mushroom powders instead of extracts.
When I joined Bloomable in the beginning of 2022, I knew that as we continue to grow and commit ourselves to providing the highest quality medicinal mushroom products on the market we would eventually launch an extract line. I spent a lot of time researching what people were looking for in their mushroom products. I realized that there are a ton of gimmicky, bad quality products on the market and it's hard to know who to trust. I also couldn't ignore the emphasis on extracted mushrooms. Not only from having had many customers reach out to us asking when we'll carry them, but the emphasis in the market as well.
So, what's the difference between mushroom powders and mushroom extract powders?
It's important to understand the difference between mushroom powders and extract powders. While mushroom powders are made by grinding dried mushrooms into a fine powder, extract powders undergo a more concentrated process to isolate and enhance the beneficial compounds found in mushrooms. This means that our new extract powders offer a higher potency and concentration of bioactive compounds, allowing you to experience their full therapeutic benefits with every (smaller) serving. This also means that the mushroom powders continue to be an alternative, more affordable solution for those who are price conscious and don't mind consuming more powder in their routine.

As one of the few companies providing third-party lab results for our extract powders, we are proud to offer full transparency into the purity and potency of our products. These lab results confirm the presence of beta-glucans, the powerhouse compound found in mushrooms that supports immune health and overall well-being. Each mushroom extract powder has been tested at Eurofins lab in Toronto and these results are accessible on the designated product page.
Our commitment to affordability and price
As you will see, mushroom extracts are not cheap. The extraction process to isolate and enhance the bioactive substances is a lengthy and expensive process. For this reason, the prices for our extract powders are higher than our mushroom powders. However, when you account the serving size of each, you will notice that the extract powders are not much more. Each mushroom extract powder costs $39.95 CAD / $29.95 USD, includes 50 grams of extract powder. Since the extract powders are more potent and the serving size only requires 1/2 teaspoon or 1.5 grams, it equals approximately $1.21 CAD / $0.90 USD per serving. We also switched our packaging from stand up pouches to jars for this product as it holds better and is easier for daily to use.
